Let's be honest. The long years of failed vacation have left me a little jaded. I didn't actually believe we were really going to make it to Hawaii until we landed in Honolulu. I really thought we had a better chance of crashing that having a successful family vacation. But, as fate would have it, the plane landed and I took my first step onto Hawaiian soil.
John, Christina and Pherson (their friend from school) met us at the airport. Christina was even nice enough to get us leis so we had the whole "Hawaiian Experience." It was really cool.
When we went to pick up the rental car they upgraded us to a Grand Marquie. And, we set off on our adventure. We stopped at Jack in the Box and the lady taking orders said, "WHO'S THE TOURIST IN THE HOUSE?" Dad was, of course, still wearing his leis. It was hilarious.
We arrived in Laie around 10:30 p.m. and Christina wanted to take us on a driving tour of the city. Since it was 2:30 p.m. my time I was a not very excited about the tour. But, we made it to our beach front condo on Hukilau Beach and it was great.
